August 27, 2011 |

Voting in the third round (Sweet 16) of the Transformative Technologies 2011 tournament begins Monday, August 29 and will close on Friday, September 2 at 5pm ET.

Here are the match-ups, with links to previews of the contests and data on each company’s technologies and progress towards commercialization.

Solazyme vs Cobalt Technologies
OriginOil vs Codexis
INEOS Bio vs Qteros
Mascoma vs Joule
Gevo vs POET
Terrabon vs Virent
Amyris vs Novozymes
Enerkem vs LS9

“Some great match-ups this week. Synth bio shootouts in Solazyme vs Cobalt, Mascoma vs Joule, and Amyris vs Novozymes, plus a big corn battle in Gevo vs POET, commented Digest editor Jim Lane. “All of these companies are Hot 50 heavyweights, and all have a strong fan base among the subscribers. Not, the readers will have to make tough choices, and really look deep at the data.”

Voting is open to all Biofuels Digest subscribers. Voting links are in the Biofuels Digest daily newsletter. To subscribe (free), visit here.
