Philippine ethanol distillery restarts

August 30, 2011 |

In the Philippines, San Carolos Bioenergy has restarted ethanol production ahead of schedule with 1.08 million liters produced from rejects from potable alcohol distilleries in Negros Occidental – Distileria Bago Inc. and Roxol Distillery. The fuel was delievered to Petron.

The company mothballed the facility in June 2010 when it no longer became profitable to produce ethanol, and had planned to begin producing again in October this year. The facility is undergoing some upgrades to be ready when the new sugar season starts again in September when ethanol production will go back to using molasses as the feedstock.
