Thailand set to introduce ethanol supporting measures

August 30, 2011 |

In Thailand, the industry ministry is planning to introduce a set of policy measures to support the ethanol industry to help compensate for the damage done by the suspension of government payments to the Oil Fund.

“The Board of Investment should consider attractive privileges aimed at drawing more investors, which go beyond what they can apply for now, such as tax breaks and investment facilitation,” Industry Minister Wannarat Charnnukul told The Nation newspaper.

Other possibilities also include the reintroduction of ethanol and biodiesel blending mandates.
