Transformative Technologies 2011: Elite Eight Preview

September 4, 2011 |

Voting in the third round (Sweet 16) of the Transformative Technologies 2011 tournament begins Monday, August 29 and will close on Friday, September 2 at 5pm ET.

Here are the match-ups, with links to previews of the contests and data on each company’s technologies and progress towards commercialization.

Solazyme vs OriginOil
Gevo vs Terrabon
Joule Unlimited vs Qteros
LS9 vs Novozymes

“It’s David vs Goliath this week, pretty much right across the board. Newly minted IPO success stories Solazyme and Gevo going up against lesser-known OriginOil and Terrabon. International enzyme leader Nozozymes, against one of synth bio’s most heralded early-stage companies in LS9,” commented Digest editor Jim Lane. “Plus, a great match between two magic bugs from Joule and Qteros. All of these companies are in the top 35 in the Hot 50, and all have proven that they have strong fan bases among the subscribers. There are no easy choices this week.”

Voting is open to all Biofuels Digest subscribers. Voting links are in the Biofuels Digest daily newsletter. To subscribe (free), visit here.
