September 20, 2011 |

In Florida, Kinder Morgan and CSX have finalized a deal with the Tampa Port Authority to deliver ethanol to the Tampa area via the nation’s first ethanol unit train-to-pipeline distribution system. The port will build the rail facilities necessary for CSX to transport ethanol from Midwest producers to central Florida in 100-car unit trains to Kinder Morgan’s Tampa terminal which will then be blended and distributed to area retailers. Together CSX and the port will invest $10.9 million in infrastructure in the project which should be online with a year.
