Novozymes to build cellulosic ethanol plant in Brazil

October 5, 2011 |

In Brazil, Novozymes, the world’s largest producer of industrial enzymes, plans to build a facility in Brazil to produce ethanol from sugarcane waste known as bagasse, according to Bloomberg.

Novozymes reponds: “The Bloomberg story had incorrect information, and we felt it was important to let everyone know the correct information from Novozymes.  Reports in the media suggest that Novozymes will build an ethanol production facility in Brazil. This is not correct. Novozymes does not produce ethanol and has no plans to do so. Novozymes supplies the enzymes which are necessary to make biofuels from agricultural waste such as sugarcane bagasse in Brazil.”
