Belgian small fuel suppliers sue to end E4 ethanol, B4 biodiesel blend mandates

October 19, 2011 |

In Belgium, the national fuel suppliers union that represents independent fuel suppliers has pending court cases with the supreme administrative court of Belgium as well as the constitutional court to end the country’s E4 and B4 volumetric blending mandates.

On June 23, the government extended the 2009 blending rule, which the group characterizes as draconian. They claim that the blending mandate isn’t an issue for the larger oil companies but is a significant burden for smaller gas stations.
