Has Powers Energy $300M waste-to-energy project kicked the bucket?

October 19, 2011 |

In Indiana, it appears that Powers Energy of America no longer plans to build a $300 million trash-to-energy plant in Schneider despite several years of having an option on buying the planned location. The lot has recently been put up for sale after the option expired, leaving local officials with the impression that the project isn’t likely to move forward.

In the three years since the company first signed preliminary agreements with the county, there has been no proof that financing had been secured nor had environmental or planning permission been sought.
