Lithuania, Finland, tie-up for biofuels projects

In Finland, Dalia Grybauskaitė, the president of Lithuania, indicated to the president of Finland that Lithuania will look to Finland for leadership as Lithuania works to reduce their dependence on gasoline. Grybauskaitė invited Finnish companies to come to Lithuania to invest in and develop projects in waste burning, biofuel, and alternative energy. Already, Finnish company Fortum Heat is constructing a heat and power plant in Lithuania that aims to generate one-third of its energy from alternatives and renewables.
