EU ethanol producers say US ethanol producers dumping, call for probe

November 4, 2011 |

In Belgium, Reuters reports that ethanol producers in Europe have requested the EU investigate illegal subsidies for U.S. ethanol exporters. Secretary-General of ePURE, Rob Vierhout said in a statement, “Massive and sudden imports of U.S. ethanol, combined with unfairly low prices over the last few years, have seriously damaged the economic situation of European producers.”  U.S. ethanol blend exports to the EU have increased 500% from 2008 to 2010.  For the year on year in 2011, U.S. exports to Europe are expected to double.
