NY's Finger Lakes council launches 5-year renewables, waste-to-ethanol plan

November 14, 2011 |

In New York, the Finger Lakes Regional Economic Development Council has submitted its five-year economic strategy, in the hopes of earning up to $1 billion in state support. The proposal includes 10 projects that, if funded, could create thousands of jobs in the nine-county region.
Among the projects is a US$300 million waste-to-ethanol plant at Eastman Business Park. The Finger Lakes council is one of 10 competing for the funds. Next month, Gov. Andrew Cuomo’s office will determine the winners of a US$200 million portion of the US$1 billion fund.
