UK wheat ethanol plant shut while EU ponders tariff policy for US

| November 24, 2011

In the UK, the Ensus ethanol plant that has been put on hold due to inconsistent biofuel policies in the European Union is expected to come back online in February or March, more than 10 months after it was mothballed, or twice as long as originally expected when it shut down.

The EU is in the process of closing the loophole that allows US-produced E90 into Europe under lower tariffs after European ethanol producers complained of possible dumping, with the European Commission currently investigating the claims.
