2012 Italian biodiesel outlook plunges 32 percent

In Italy, director general of the industry body Assocostieri-Unione Produttori Biocarburanti, Maria Rosaira Di Somma, has lowered her forecast for Italian biodiesel production from 600,000 tonnes to just 500,000 tonnes at most – a 32% drop.  Italian biodiesel production in 2010 was 731,844 tonnes.  In an interview with Reuters, Di Somma stated, “This year we will produce about 500,000 tonnes, if everything goes well.”
