December 2, 2011 |

In Ireland,  the Irish Sugar Beet Bio-Refinery Group has published a study calling for the construction of a sugar beet and grain ethanol plant in the southeast of Ireland.  The plant would cost an estimated €350 million to build.

The plant would process sugar beets, grain and molasses, and produce 50 million liters of ethanol and 154,000 tonnes of sugar a year.  The study claims that the plant would be profitable in its first year.
