UK's Dial a Ride to add B30 biodiesel buses

December 7, 2011 |

In the UK, Transport for London is launching a one-year trial that will see 12 of its ‘Dial-a-Ride’ minibuses run on B30. The used cooking oil-based biodiesel will be supplied by Argent Energy and if the trial is successful, which expects to reduce vehicle carbon emissions by 25%, then the B30 could be extended to more Dial-a-Ride minibuses.

Dial-a-Ride provides door-to-door service for people with a permanent or long term disability. Many members are unable to access mainstream public transport and rely heavily on the service. More than 1.3 million trips were provided last year.
