GFI greenlights 11K hectare sugarcane ethanol project in Philippines

In the Philippines, Multinational firm Green Future Innovations, Inc. plans to push forward its 11,000-hectare sugar plantation and bio-ethanol plant in San Mariano, Isabela following support from multi-sectoral groups including local residents, farmers, local officials and religious leaders who hope the project will reduce poverty, promote peace and increase jobs in the area.

The supporters state that biofuels projects have already increased social and economic development in the province and adjacent areas. Farmers say they are already reaping the benefits of progress, as they have received financial and technological assistance from the sugarcane plantation managed by Ecofuel Land Development Inc.
