US Navy completes algal fuel test on LCAC 91 amphibious transport

In Florida, the Navy reports that they have finished testing a 50/50 algal fuel blend on their LCAC 91 amphibious transport vessel, achieving the best speed to date with biofuel tests.

The LCAC reached 50 knots, beating out the 44.5 knot run of an experimental Riverine Command Craft.  The test was conducted in the Gulf of Mexico.
