Abengoa idles ethanol plants in Kansas, New Mexico

December 21, 2011 |

In New Mexico, Abengoa says it will be temporarily shutting down its ethanol plant in Portales, as well as its plant in Colwhich, Kansas. The company says that with the market conditions being what they are right now, it felt the best plan was to temporarily shut down its two smallest plants—Portales and Colwhich—take advantage of the downtime to do extensive maintenance. The Portales plant will likely shut down the first week in January and the reopening of both plants will depend on market conditions.
