Drought hits Kansas ethanol production

January 2, 2012 |

In Kansas, despite overall production of ethanol in the United States being boosted by foreign demand in 2011, production in Kansas was reduced by a drought-ridden corn crop and other factors.
The state typically produces 440 million gallons of ethanol per year at 11 plants.

However, due to depressed market conditions and poor corn crops from drought, companies like Abengoa Bioenergy and Gateway Ethanol are halting production in some of their plants until conditions improve.
