Illinois biodiesel incentives: the skinny

January 4, 2012 |

In Illinois, members of the state’s House and Senate approved the extension of Illinois’ biodiesel blending program. The bill extends the biodiesel state sales tax incentives to December 31, 2018. With the extension, any biodiesel blend of more than 10 percent will continue to be eligible for fuel tax exemption. The state began B11 blending credits in 2004, and since then, more biodiesel has been blended in Illinois annually than in any other state.

According to a recent Illinois biodiesel economic impact study conducted by CardnoENTRIX, the extension of the biodiesel tax abatement for B11 and higher blends through 2018 will create more than 1,500 green jobs in the state.
