Poppies! Tasmanian poppyseed biodiesel operation debuts

In Australia, a new biodiesel plant has debuted in Tasmania, using waste pressed poppy seeds as feedstock. The family-based enterprise, which will produce 800,000 gallons (3 million liters), of biodiesel per year, took five years to develop, and is expected to provide higher margins than previously were obtained from the sale of unprocessed oils.
