Diester says French imports of waste cooking oil for biodiesel will drop 67% in 2012

| January 16, 2012

In France, the parent of biodiesel major Diester Industries expects only a third of the biodiesel made from used cooking oil and animal fat that it imported in 2010 will be required for 2012 as the country moves away from imports focused on qualifying for double-counting under the EU’s Renewable Energy Directive.

The RED allows biofuels made from waste to count twice in terms of national biofuel use requirements. Imports for 2012 are seen at 150,000 metric tons.
