Germany: no more imports of food-crop based biofuels

In Germany, government advisors have discouraged any increases in imports of food products to produce biofuels. According to a report from the Bio Economic Council, doing so could threaten the supply of food in developing countries.

This report follows the World Bank and World Food Programme’s requests last June that governments end policies to support biofuels because they drive up food prices.
