In North Dakota, ADM will close its ethanol plant in Walhalla in April, the northernmost ethanol plant in the US just 5 miles from the Canadian border, eliminating all 61 jobs at the facility. The company says the decision was made because the facility is located too far away from corn producing areas to be economically feasible.
It’s 30 million gallon per year scale was also much smaller than ADM’s other plants, which further led to the decision to shut it down.
