EU energy czar to set 2030 EU biofuels targets by 2013

In Belgium, the European energy commissioner has said he is against raising biofuel blending targets above 10% until sustainability issues have been addressed, but is in favor of setting targets for 2030 within the next two years. Whether or not those targets will be binding will all depend on the EU’s ability to guarantee sustainability including their economic competivity with fossil fuels.
