BP to quadruple sugarcane production in Brazil

In Brazil, BP says it plans to quadruple its sugarcane production to 30 million metric tons per year by 2017, while it plans to boost its cane area by 35% for the upcoming crush that will start in April. Poor weather in the region meant it only crushed 5 million tons this past season compared to the 7.5 million ton capacity it has.
