Spanish biodiesel producers battel cheap imports

February 22, 2012 |

In Spain, the biofuel section of the National Renewable Energy Producers Association has submitted public comments to the national energy regulator (CNE) in order to help kick-start the country’s biodiesel production in the face of cheap imports.

Included in the plan is the introduction of E10 nationwide, which would require the government to drop the requirement that gasoline have 95 octane and that the fuel be available in all pumps nationally. The organization is also asking the country to develop national standards for B10, B30 and E85 as well as requirements to produce or import vehicles that can run on those fuels.
