Ethanol sales soar at Ukraine’s state-owned Ukrspirt

In the Ukraine, ethanol sales from companies under the state-owned enterprise Ukrspirt rose more than 18 times in 2011 over the year prior with more expected for this year as 65% of those companies producing alcohol and spirits plan to produce ethanol. Though corn is the main feedstock, the government recently ordered 40 million tons of sugarbeet be used for ethanol this year.
