Evodos completes first US run of advanced centrifuge system for algal biofuels

March 16, 2012 |

In the Netherlands, Evodos announced that they completed their first successful run of the Type 25 advanced centrifuge system in the U.S., which is housed at the Algae to Omega Holdings Inc., Florida based facility. This initial run was conducted to illustrate the capabilities of this advanced centrifugal system, including their spiral plate technology, which allows the algae biomass to be processed into a paste with virtually very little wear and tear.  After rigorous testing, the first batch of the Algae biomass processed through this system was found to contain only 3% extracellular water content on average.
