Livestock producers irked by lower fat in distiller’s grains

In Iowa, extracting corn oil from DDGs for biodiesel or food use is beginning to become a sore subject with livestock producers who have just become used to using DDGs rather than meal in their animal feed. Some export customers are also beginning to complain about reduced fat content in DDGs while it seems companies like Valero, who are extracting less oil from their DDGs—but still extracting all the same—may become a preferred provider because of that higher fat content.
