Syntroleum to shut down biofuels production in Louisiana as hydrogen supplies sag

March 28, 2012 |

In Louisiana, Syntroleum will stop its biofuel production at the Dynamic Fuels facility in Geismar during the four weeks beginning March 28 as a result of expected hydrogen supply interruptions. The company will take advantage of the shut down to switch out catalysts and undertake other maintenance that is required every seven years.

The hunt is underway for different hydrogen suppliers to avoid future supply disruptions but economically viable options have yet to be found.
