Glycerol consumption up in EU

In the EU, consumption of refined glycerol is up 21% according to new BAC report. EU is a significant producer and consumer of refined glycerol and is ranked second globally. In 2010 the EU production of refined glycerol amounted 503,432 tons, increased by 32% year over year. With 51% market share Germany is the major EU glycerol producer. Recently biodiesel has been the largest supply source for glycerol, where the crude glycerol is a waste product.
