Colombia ethanol production to double by 2014

April 3, 2012 |

In Colombia, the national biofuel producers association FedeBiocombustibles expects ethanol production to reach 2.2 billion liters per year by 2014, up from 1.05 billion liters now.

Ethanol is blended domestically to offset expensive fuel imports, while feedstock is grown in traditionally cocaine growing areas, giving farmers an alternative and helping to make regions safer.
