US corn ethanol surpassed Brazilian sugarcane ethanol in UK for 2010-11

In the UK, new reporting from the Department for Transport shows that US corn-based ethanol use surpassed Brazilian sugarcane ethanol during April 1, 2010-March 31, 2011, making up for 25% of the ethanol used that year at 156 million liters.

About 30% of all biofuel supplied during that period came from used cooking oil while only 22% of biofuel feedstocks came from the UK. About 84% of biofuels met environmental standards while GHG savings averaged 57% compared to the government target of 50%.
