USDA report okays feedstocks on land near airports

In Washington, the USDA’s Animal and Plant Health Inspection Service recently completed research looking into the feasibility of growing second-generation ethanol feedstocks on land near airports. The report found that doing so would fall within the FAA’s guidelines of what are permissible uses on airport lands and would be ideal because crops grown on those lands wouldn’t be suitable for food production and reduction of wildlife is typically encouraged.
