April 11, 2012 |

In South Carolina, the University of South Carolina has received grants from the state Department of Health and Environmental Control and the Environmental Protection Agency totaling $89,090 to set up a 5,000 ton per year used cooking oil to biodiesel project. The plan is to sell the fuel at $3 a gallon, compared to $2 for production, in order to pay the students and volunteers who do the actual production. The school’s shuttle buses will likely be one of the first customers.
