In Florida, the port of Cape Canaveral has received its first shipment of 50,000 barrels of biodiesel from Houston-based Green Earth Fuels that will at first be used to fuel cars and trucks but could later be used to fuel cruise ships. Cruise ships need to start blending with biodiesel by 2015.
Vitol Group invested $2.5 million in 2010 to put in the infrastructure required for storage, blending and supply of biodiesel at the port.
