BioMCN, ED&F Man partner to procure glycerin for advanced biofuels

In the Netherlands, BioMCN has signed a deal with ED&F Man for the supply of Argentine glycerin to use as feedstock for its bio-based methanol that will later be used in MTBE, DME or other chemical applications.

BioMCN’s two facilities, which it converted to produce methanol from glycerin rather than the original natural gas system, currently produce 200,000 tons of methanol annually with that same amount again coming online when the second phase is completed in 2013.
