bio-on, FLOS launch lamp made made with water-biodegradable PHAs

In Italy, bio-on and FLOS have presented the world’s first product made with PHAs, the 100% naturally water-biodegradable bioplastic: a Miss Sissi lamp designed in 1991 by Philippe Starck and now an icon in lighting design.  Rather than the traditional polycarbonate plastic, this lamp was made with bio-on’s PHA biopolymer sourced from sugar beet and sugarcane waste products.  The bioplastic is completely biodegradable in soil and water.
