May 1, 2012 |

In Virginia, the Institute for Advanced Learning and Research has opened its new $8.5 million Sustainable Energy and Technology Center, or Sentec for short, in hopes of becoming a hub for marketable research, inventions and start-up companies.

Sentec’s flagship tenant is Virdia who has already invested about $10 million at the facility in its process to scale-up. Already the company employs 34 researchers and engineers in the Danville area, which may jump to 50 as it reaches commercial deployment.
