Researchers develop new “total forest” model for biofuels impact

May 10, 2012 |

In North Carolina, researchers at North Carolina State University have developed a new computer model called DRAINMOD-FOREST that takes account of entire forest systems including carbon cycles, hydrology, new growth and more. The system is meant to help forest managers and policymakers alike better understand what implications there will be to changes in forest systems, including the use of trees as feedstock for biofuels.
