GE to invest $245M in Brazilian R&D center: biodiesel, advanced biofuels, materials in focus

In Brazil, General Electric announced that it will invest $245.5 million in a research and development center. The centre that will open in the second half of 2013 will focus in biofuels, alternative-energy systems, systems integration and particularly in logistics. GE said that Brazil is its third priority country, after the U.S and China. The center will study bagasse as a biofuels feedstock, as well as the development of biodiesel for rail transport, and aviation biofuels, based on agreements it has signed with Petrobras, Vale, OGX and Embraer.
