E85 blend of ethanol, racing fuel, on show at Indy 500

In Indiana, the Indy 500 this year featured E85 ethanol in the form of 85 percent ethanol and 15 percent high-octane racing fuel.

Said Brent Schutte, a Harris Bank market strategist, “The Indianapolis 500 has become a venue to show the feasibility of using alternative fuels, such as E85…We’ll place our wager on our belief that by the 100th running of the Indianapolis 500 in 2016, natural gas cars will be showing up in more places.”
