Illovo cancels South African sugar, ethanol project

In Mali, South Africa’s Illovo has pulled out of a half billion dollar sugar and ethanol project that it had been developing alongside the government for several years, citing incomplete funding and a worsening risk situation in the country. The facility was meant to produce 15 million liters of ethanol annually in addition to 190,000 tons of sugar.
