PWC says high debt plagues Brazilian ethanol expansion prospects

In Brazil, a new study from PriceWaterhouseCoopers says that the high level of indebtedness among the country’s sugarcane sector is the main factor keeping the industry from increasing ethanol production. Out of 120 mills and other sector participants interviewed, 24% felt that indebtedness was the main issue while 14% said it was a lack of professionalization in the sector with 12% saying the lack of available trained labor was the main issue.
