World Heath Energy testing sea water purification technology

July 13, 2012 |

In New York and India, algae biodiesel company World Health Energy Holdings, Inc. has announced that it is testing a new sea water purification technology.

The initial testing is utilizing water with a 2% salinity 20,000 ml per liter and using the WHEN algae systems to reduce the salinity. Sea water has a 3% salinity (30,000 ml per liter). Agriculture water is .01-.02%. Drinking water is typically under .0055 salinity.

The double impacts of global population growth and global warming have resulted in rapidly rising global drinking water scarcity, which by 2030 some analysts say will be able to support only 60 percent of world demand.

Liran Kosman, CFO of World Health Energy, said, “We hope our tests will show positive results to help create a solution for the world’s water needs.” If the company’s tests succeed, they could potentially launch a global industry that dwarfs even the global petroleum industry in scale and market penetration.
