July 17, 2012 |

In the UK, Fox Business is reporting that the BP’s Vivergo bioethanol plant in Hull is now expected to be commissioned by the end of 2012. The construction of the biorefinery plant was originally slated to be completed in 2010, and was previously delayed to spring 2012. According to BP Biofuels Chief Executive Philip New, the current delays are due to the Company ensuring that everything is in order before opening.

When completed, the plant will have an annual production capacity of 420 million litres (110 million US gallons) of ethanol from approximately one million tonnes of feedstock. Total investment in the biofuels plant is around US$400 million, split between BP (45 per cent), ABF subsidiary British Sugar.
