Musim Mas expects increased demand for certified palm oil despite challenges.

July 17, 2012 |

In Indonesia, Palm oil producer Musim Mas Group expects increased demand for certified sustainable palm oil (CSPO), and is ready to provide the market with oil and its derivative products. According to Musim Mas, the global demand for certified palm oil is only half of current production, with the European Union as the largest market. Current global production of CSPO stands at about six million tons, with 50% from Indonesia. Musim Mas Group has so far produced 477,000 tons, or some 15.9 percent of Indonesia’s total production. The company produces 600,000 tons of palm oil per year. The challenge is that demand for certified palm oil is only half of current production due to the increased cost of CSPO.
