Private forecasters expect weak monsoon rains in the key crop-planting months

In India, US farmers are not the only ones battling drought. The Economic Times found that private forecasters in India say they are expecting only weak monsoon rains in July and August, the key crop-planting months, particularly in the parched central and western region, where farmers say they may face drought-like conditions on top of the arid weather in June–among the driest months in 50 years.
