Iowa too close to big cities to sell E15 till mid-September

In Iowa, despite having the nation’s largest corn crop and a giant ethanol industry, the state isn’t allowed to sell E15 until mid-September due to the summer blends produced for urban centers like Chicago and Minneapolis. E15 isn’t compatible with the summer gasoline blends that are meant to help reduce emissions in big cities and Iowa is considered to close to those regions to not supply them during the summer driving season.
